Dinâmica Bilingual School

Tradition that Innovates. Education that Transforms.

With 46 years of history, Dinâmica Bilingual School is an innovative and inclusive institution, committed to a holistic approach to education that extends far beyond academic content. We prepare students to face life’s challenges by nurturing essential competencies such as autonomy, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and a spirit of collaboration.

At Dinâmica, knowledge emerges through experience, inquiry, and curiosity. Students are active participants in their own learning journey. Teachers serve as facilitators of knowledge—guiding, supporting, and inspiring students to learn how to learn.

A key differentiator is our thoughtfully designed physical spaces, known as “third teachers.” These environments are intentionally crafted to promote active learning and offer diverse opportunities and resources that enrich each student’s educational experience. They are flexible, dynamic, and evolve according to students’ interests, projects, and investigations—fostering a constant dialogue between architecture and pedagogy.

Each stage of the educational journey focuses on building knowledge through meaningful interaction with the world—encouraging students to go further in their learning and develop their full academic and personal potential.

Our History

The story of Dinâmica Bilingual School began with the dream of two visionary educators, driven by a profound commitment to transforming education. In the late 1970s, Angela Duarte Silveira Diener and Maria Aparecida Diener Gentil, together with Maria Gorete Azevedo, joined forces to create a school that would connect academic knowledge to real life, and learning to purpose.

On November 20, 1978, Dinâmica was officially founded in the heart of Florianópolis. A bold and innovative initiative for its time, its mission was to educate students through a constructivist pedagogical approach, centered on the learner’s experience, honoring individual strengths, and empowering each student to take ownership of their learning journey.

From the very beginning, Dinâmica demonstrated a future-focused vision, anticipating pedagogical practices that, decades later, would become educational benchmarks both in Brazil and internationally.

A personalized approach, hands-on learning, and the development of social-emotional competencies have been central to Dinâmica’s educational philosophy for over 47 years. Today, these pillars are internationally recognized as essential to delivering a transformative education aligned with the challenges of the 21st century.

The daughters of co-founder Angela — Roberta and Carolina Diener (in memoriam) — inherited the same passion for education and carried forward the dream of expanding the school and its unique pedagogical identity. With the same spirit of innovation, they led the development of three additional campuses: Jurerê, Primavera, and Leste. Today, Dinâmica serves the entire Island of Santa Catarina, under the shared leadership of Angela and Roberta Diener, and pedagogical direction of Maria Aparecida Diener Gentil.

Dinâmica Bilingual School

Learning with Purpose, Teaching with Heart

At Dinâmica Bilingual School, innovation and excellence go hand in hand. Our pedagogical processes are continuously refined, integrating active learning methodologies, educational technologies, and evidence-based practices — all grounded in a solid educational framework shaped over nearly 47 years of history. Tradition and innovation ensure a consistent, relevant, and future-ready education for a globalized world.

We make ongoing investments in faculty development through professional learning programs that align the most current educational practices with the developmental needs of each student. Additionally, the school is home to the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence – Realize, which leads ongoing training initiatives and ensures that daily classroom practices consistently reflect the Dinâmica Method.

Educating means preparing for the future. That’s why we foster essential 21st-century skills such as autonomy, critical thinking, empathy, and creativity. Our commitment goes beyond academic achievement: we nurture conscious, ethical, and responsible individuals — prepared to contribute meaningfully to a constantly evolving society, with a vision grounded in building a more humane and sustainable world.

At Dinâmica Bilingual School, we believe the environment is also a teacher.

Each space is intentionally designed to act as a third educator — inviting curiosity, exploration, and connection among students.

We invest in learning environments created with pedagogical intention and organized to foster active learning, offering diverse possibilities and materials that enrich the learning process. The space interacts, evolves, and takes shape according to students’ interests, investigative sequences, and ongoing projects — creating a constant dialogue between architecture and pedagogy.

A distinctive feature of our school environments is the use of Learning Walls. From Early Years through High School, classroom walls reflect the students’ learning journey, making the construction of knowledge visible in an active, reflective, and bilingual manner.

Rooted in the Visible Thinking approach and guided by teachers, the walls capture hypotheses, reflections, images, and questions that document each group’s investigative process and collaborative planning — inside and beyond the classroom. This strategy highlights the students’ active role in building knowledge.
